J. William (Bill) Crittenden, MPA, DMin, Founder
An experienced counselor, Bill brings a significant background of skills and experience to his work in geriatric care management and the provision of care for seniors and their families. A licensed assisted living facility administrator, Bill is well educated in health care and counseling, holding two Masters (Divinity, Texas Christian University & Public Administration-Healthcare, University of Missouri) and a Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling (Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary).

To add to his depth of education, Bill’s practical experience includes serving as the Executive Director and licensed nursing home administrator of continuing care retirement communities in Florida, Maryland, and North Carolina. He has also served as chaplain in a variety of settings including general hospitals, psychiatric, and correctional settings. For twelve years he served as the Director of Pastoral Care & Counseling in Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, MO.

More About Caryn

Caryn Byrd, CSA, CLTC
For more than 13 years Caryn has worked with other professionals, seniors and their families in the Adult Day Center, Assisted Living Community and Private-Duty Home Care arena. She holds two prestigious designations- Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) and Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC), along with practical experience qualifying her to provide long-term care insurance and planning services for adults and their families. Caryn brings to Senior Care Management & Associates extensive experience on the “care” side of long-term care.

With her extensive care giving background, Caryn’s experience in coaching long term care providers locally as well as on a national level is a welcomed addition to the Senior Care Management family. She is an active member of the American Association for Long Term Care (AALTCI), a member of the Society of Certified Senior Advisors, Chapel Hill and Durham Eldercare Resources (CHADER), Health Affairs Round Table (HART), on the board and as an ambassador of the Hillsborough-Orange Chamber of Commerce, and is also active in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce.

Caryn is a licensed Long Term Insurance agent in NC, SC, GA, VA, and NE, partnering with the following insurance providers: Genworth, Prudential, Mutual / United of Omaha, MedAmerica, John Hancock, Unum, and TransAmerica.

Meet Lori

Lori Farkas, Care Manager


Lori Farkas has been in the senior care industry for more than 20 years in several capacities. She has been a Caregiver, Staff Coordinator of services for seniors in their place of residence, Recruiting Coordinator of caregivers to care for the seniors, and most recently the Client Care Coordinator for a non-medical in-home care company assuring the seniors and their families needs are met.

Not only has she worked with the seniors in our community, but Lori cared for her mother. This provided her with firsthand knowledge of the long term care maze as well as the continuum of care needed as the primary caregiver for the family. This personal experience gave her the heart and soul to help the elderly and their families in our community navigate through the many options, in a caring way, to find those that are the best to meet their personal needs. “I care enough to find the very best for my clients; they are an extension of my family.”

Lori holds an associate’s degree in Nursing from Otterbein University. She and her husband Gary live in the Triangle. They have a son in Ohio, son and daughter-in-law in the Charlotte area and a daughter attending Liberty University.

Meet Linda

Linda Davis, RN, earned her nursing education at the Shepard-Gill School of Practical Nursing at  Massachusetts General Hospital and Newton–Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing, in Boston, where she resided.  She has experience in many facets of healthcare, including but not limited to Geriatrics, Emergency/Trauma, Orthopedic, Alternative and Complimentary, and Environmental Medicine.

She moved to Honolul,u Hawaii from Boston for 10 years. While there, she attended and graduated from the American Institute of Massage Therapy. Her interest in Eastern traditions and holistic medicine originated there. Upon relocating to North Carolina, she began her own business as a therapeutic massage practitioner while continuing to practice nursing.

Linda is presently a team member of “Senior Care Management Associates”, as well as a home care supervisor, and a nursing instructor at Durham Technical Community College in the Nursing Assistant Program.

Linda strongly believes in being proactive in healthcare delivery and patient advocacy.  She resides in Hillsborough and enjoys nature, travel, and gardening. She is passionate about animal and environmental rights. She is an avid and at times obnoxious fan of the New England Patriots Football team.

Meet Betsy

Betsy Crittenden, Marketing Director

Headshot-btcAfter 35 years as a paralegal in law firms and corporate settings, Betsy Crittenden recently joined the staff of Senior Care Management Associates as Marketing Director. In addition to attending marketing and networking events in the area, Betsy writes the blogs for the website as well as managing all social media activities on LinkedIn, Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
